애서베스카 폭포 본문
- 영어: Athabasca Falls
- 캐나다 앨버타 주 재스퍼 타운(읍)에서 남쪽으로 약 30km 떨어진 에서베스카 강 상류에 있는 재스퍼 국립공원의 폭포
- 폭포 표면 암석의 형성시기는 최소 백악기 시절이며 폭포의 형성시기는 신생대 마지막 빙하기 시절이다.
- 컬럼비아 아이스필드의 빙하에서 흘러나오는 폭포로 아타바스카 강으로 가는데 재스퍼 읍에서 가장 큰 강이다.
- 캐나다 최고의 모피 상인, 측량가, 지도 제작자이자 탐험가인 데이비드 톰슨(David Thompson, 1770 ~ 1857)이 1811년에 발견
- 접근은 폭포의 북동쪽 고속도로 93A로 이어지는 인근 주차장에서 가능
- 폭포 주변의 다양한 전망대와 산책로에서 안전하게 폭포를 관찰하고 사진을 찍을 수 있다.
