- 이름 자체는 1819년과 1821년에 순회 판사로 태즈메이니아를 방문한 영국의 판사, 작가 배런 필드(Barron Field, 1786 ~ 1846)이름을 따서 명명
- 러셀 폭포와 돕슨호가 이 국립공원에 속하며 안에 있다.
- 1916년에 설립되어 프레이시넷 국립공원(Freycinet National Park)과 함께 태즈매니아에서 가장 오래된 국립공원
- 홍적세 마지막 빙하기 시절에 형성된 암석들이 많은 편이고 태 즈메이니아 토착 동물이 많이 서식한다.
- 사람이 처음 거주한 것은 3만 5천년 전이다.
- 1982년 유네스코 세계문화유산에 지정되었고 2024년 5월에 마이크로소프트 빙 웰페이퍼에서 소개
- 아래쪽 사진처럼 아름답게 뒤틀린 나뭇 가지와 눈에 띄는 부드럽고 얼룩덜룩 한 나무 껍질, 연한 회색에서 크림색의 흰색, 종종 분홍색으로 물들인 아름다운 혼합 나무를 자랑하는 퍼지고 상록수이자 유칼립투스 일종인 태즈 매니아 스노우 검(Tasmanian snow gum이 이 공원의 풍부한 생물 다양성을 상징한다.
