- 영어: Mount Sneffels(마운틴 스네펠스)
- 미국 콜로라도주 리지웨이(Ridgway) 근처에 위치한 산으로 스네펠스 산맥(Sneffels Range)의 최고봉이자 산후안 산맥(San Juan Mountains)의 일부
- 쥘 베른의 소설 『지구 속 여행』에 등장하는 아이슬란드의 화산 스나이펠(Snæfell)에서 따온 것
- 좌표: 38° 0′ 13.81″ N, 107° 47′ 32.45″ W
- 이 부근에 스네펠스 은광촌 폐허도시가 존재
역사
- 스네펠스 산은 산후안 산맥 형성과 동일하지만 빙하에 의해 깎여나간 U자형 계곡과 날카로운 봉우리가 특징
- 스네펠스 산이 처음 언급된 것과 해당 유령마을이 형성된것은 1879년 이 부근에서 은광이 발견되면서 마을이 형성되며 스네펠스 산 우체국이 지점이 개설되면서이다.
- 그러나 1915년 레버릴(수익)제제소(Revenue Mill)가 원인불명 화재로 소실되며 점차 유령도시화 되다가 1935년에 등산객과 탐험가들의 거점 역할을 하며 명맥을 유지했지만, 지역 주민이 거의 없어지고, 상업적 활동도 중단되면서 유지할 필요성이 사라진 탓에 폐쇄
