- 카필라카이라는 뜻은 고대 그리스어로 "문이 있는 바위"이라는 뜻이다.
- 폰토스 왕국의 암석 무덤과 유사한 스타일로 만들어졌으며, 이 두 무덤이 같은 시대에 만들어진 것으로 보며
- 무덤 문에는 고대 그리스어인 "IKEZIOS"라는 글자가 새겨져 있으며 뜻 자체는 아무도 모르며 무덤은 정육면체 모양이다.
- 주류 역사학계에서는 폰토스 왕조의 마지막 왕 미트리다테스 6세 에우파토르(기원전 135 ~ 기원전 65) 무덤으로 보는 경향이 크지만 그것이 가설에 불과
